Eduserv - A Jisc Enterprise

Not-for-profit technology advice provider Eduserv, now part of Jisc, formed a long-term managed service outsourcing partnership with Wattle to provide ongoing Microsoft .NET software development and support services to its AppDev client base.

LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP Project Overview

Eduserv was a not-for-profit provider of industry-leading technology advice, engineering, and support. Their clients included central government departments, a large number of local councils, various third sector organisations and charities, and all UK universities.

Eduserv have since merged with Jisc, who focus on solutions for higher and further education. Together, Jisc and Eduserv have greater scope to co-create innovative products and services to meet the needs and expectations of students and citizens, without duplication of effort, time and money.

Strategic Digital Services Partnership

As one of the UK's leading providers of cloud services to the UK public sector, Eduserv were looking to strengthen their Digital Services provision via a strategic partnership with Wattle.

  • Wattle assumed full sub-contracted responsibility for the ongoing provision of project management, software development, and support services to a client base of approximately 20 large third and public sector organisations with incumbent Umbraco CMS and Sitecore CMS websites.
  • As part of the process we took responsibility for the delivery of a number of major in-flight projects including the Scottish Water and Information Commissioners Office new website developments.
  • Wattle's proven track record in the provision of outsourced services, combined with a cutting-edge .NET development and support capability, made for an ideal fit with Eduserv's existing Application Development team.
  • Within the partnership Wattle delivered ongoing development and support services to some of the UK's leading non-profit brands including Guide Dogs, the Salvation Army, the Samaritans, and the British Red Cross.

Mark Ebden, Chief Operating Officer, Eduserv.

As Eduserv's COO Mark was central to the highly successful Wattle partnership and the major cost savings and efficiency gains secured as a result. He was responsible for driving through significant change in order to revitalise Eduserv, as it moved from a traditional managed IT service provider model to that of cloud service provider. Eduserv went on to become the leading choice for organisations across the public and third sectors, wanting to drive their own digital transformation, before its subsequent merger with Jisc.
